What is EFT?

Think of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) as a fusion of ancient acupressure and modern psychology. Often dubbed "tapping," EFT involves gently tapping on specific meridian points on your face and body while voicing positive affirmations or addressing emotional issues.

How does EFT work?

It is a blend of acupuncture and modern psychology—minus the needles! EFT works by tapping on specific meridian points on your body while focusing on a particular issue or emotion. This simple yet powerful technique helps release energy blockages, allowing you to overcome emotional hurdles and feel more balanced.

Is EFT scientifically proven?

EFT is an evidence-based therapeutic method, extensively clinically researched, with hundreds of studies supporting its efficacy. Studies have highlighted its effectiveness in reducing anxiety, stress, and even PTSD symptoms. Clinical EFT, the manualized form of the method, has been validated as an “evidence-based” practice using criteria published by the American Psychological Association (APA) Division 12 Task Force on Empirically Validated Therapies.

Why are the statements negative?

EFT operates on the principle that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body's energy system. It combines the knowledge of ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology to address these disruptions. The technique involves the use of negative statements to tune into the specific problem or issue, which is believed to be essential in the process of healing. By acknowledging and verbalizing the negative aspects of a problem, the technique aims to reduce the emotional impact of those issues. Once the negative is acknowledged, EFT then progresses to affirmations and positive statements to shift the body's energy and promote emotional healing.
